inner animal
The RedBubble staff took themselves off to the Melbourne zoo on Friday in search of their ‘inner animal’ as part of a challenge that you’ll be learning more about soon.
Those of us not in Melbourne had to find other sources of inner animals….. sadly my backyard proved rather fruitless, yeilding only an elderly German Shepherd & an assortment of arachnids & bugs, none of which I identified with as my inner animal.
So today I packed the kids into the car & off to the Darling Downs zoo we went to find their resident Emu.
Why do I identify with an Emu?
• They are odd Australian birds that are raised in the bush. (translation : Australian women raised in the country – ‘outback’ if you prefer).
• Emu’s have an insatiable curiosity. This one’s curiosity almost cost me a 50mm lens for my photographic efforts today, hence the poor focus….. I was running away.
• I’m sad to say as I near 40, my hair is rapidly taking on a similar wild & wiry appearance.
• Like Emu’s I’ve been known to steal food from children on occasion (only my own!).
If I win the challenge, Redbubble will kindly be donating a $200 prize to WIRES – Australian Wildlife Rescue Organisation
